Amir Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari and Secretary General Allama Sajedur Rahman have called upon everyone to come forward with urgent help and cooperation in flood-hit Feni and Noakhali.
They made this call in a statement sent to the media on Thursday (August 22).
Defense leaders said that Feni and Noakhali have drowned in the water released by India. Unprecedented inhumane situation has arisen as India has opened dams without any warning. We are calling on the state forces along with the activists and supporters of Hefazat to come forward with their helicopters and engine-powered boats for emergency assistance and rescue work. There is also a severe risk of flooding in several other regions of the country.
They also said that India has imposed a political flood on us. We will definitely deal with this lawlessness of India politically, InshaAllah. According to international convention, an upstream country can never dam a common international river, which would damage the river system of the downstream country. But India has always behaved aggressively with us in this regard. Damming one river after another without regard to international law has damaged both our river system and our agricultural system. It does not give water when needed, but every year during heavy monsoons, it opens dams for its own sake and floods the border areas creating humanitarian disaster. Creating these dams and floods is India's international crime. India will have to answer all these if we resort to international court.
Both countries would have benefited if the same rivers were allowed to flow naturally without damming. On both sides, the chances of natural calamities would have been reduced. But India wants to enjoy all the water alone by putting up unjust dams. It is injustice against nature. Floods are created by India. India will now have to pay for every body killed in the flood.
They said, We have not forgotten the injustices India committed in this country in the name of friendship by imposing a puppet fascist government like Sheikh Hasina on us.
